Design Thinking – Projects by Kun Lim

In his presentation, Kun Lim is going to share about his experience growing up in an “eco house” designed and built by his father at a farming village in Malaysia, and the design principles he acquired as a student at University of Houston in Texas where he graduated with Bachelor of Architecture in 1986. As a believer of “Sustainable Architecture and Urban Development”, he is going to present his architectural and city planning projects in US and Asia. Kun Lim’s portfolio is comprised of projects from an aquarium, sports complex, hospital, and university to a mall, mosque, education & media center for Buddhist organization and new township. One of his notable achievements was working as the Lead Planner on the master planning of Putrajaya, the new administrative capital city of Malaysia from 1994 to 1996. His concept proposal for Putrajaya was selected as winner in a design competition in 1994

At present, Kun Lim is the Design Principal of Kun Lim Studio LLC in Seattle, USA and Kun Lim Architect in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is the immediate past Chairman of Seattle International Architecture Forum, an affiliate with the American Institute of Architects in Seattle. Many of his projects won design award .  Kun Lim and his projects are featured regularly in architectural and mainstream media, including TV, in Asia. He speaks regularly about his projects at conferences and forums in Asia, Europe and USA.
